Personal Info
I am intersted in root ecology and evolution. I am currently investigating root plasticity in maize, and developing a molecular technique to distinguish roots of the three sisters (maize, beans, and squash) in soil core samples. Ecological theory, computational modeling, and field experimentaiton provide a background for my work. I am also intersted in an emerging philosophy of plants as organisms with sensitive information processing abilities and behavior. A game theory model is being further developed from a previous labmember's work to investigate the cost and benefits of root plasticity in uncertain environments with competition from neighbors.
